John Robert Thurmond’s multiple talents were recognizable from an early age but undergo constant renewal and diversification as his young life progresses. He attributes his love of the southern graces from time spent in Monroe, Georgia with his beloved grandmother Clara, the quintessential doctor’s wife in a picturesque, history-steeped small town. Of her inspiration in the disciplines of fashion, entertaining, and running a household he says, “She was my best friend, and also served as a finishing school for me.”

Suffering not a split second from small-town blues, John Robert studied at the famed Bumble + Bumble salon in New York City, and trained under the national creative director for Vidal Sassoon. Fashionable heads from Atlanta to Augusta and the Carolinas comprise his loyal clientele. His apt eye and superlative knack for style are the unmistakable signature of various fashion editorials, projects for some of the country’s top modeling agencies, and most recently his name graced the masthead of one of the area’s most ambitious upstart style guides – his genius graced its pages, naturally.
